Make That Change

Creation of a unique content style for information-dense content.

Make That Change is a YouTube channel created by two immigrants, Anastasia and Anna, who share their journey of settling in Canada. They produce practical, educational content aimed at helping newcomers navigate life in Canada, especially around immigration, job search, and adapting to the Canadian system.

The channel specializes in storytelling from personal experience, and covers topics like careers, life, immigration, and the systems that shape Canadian living.

Case

Make That Change approached Lumuv with a request to develop a distinct editing style for their talking-head videos. Their content is highly information-dense, often featuring statistics and figures that need to be communicated clearly and effectively.

The goal was to create a format that made this flow of information easy to follow, visually engaging, and professional in execution. At the same time, it was important to sustain audience attention throughout the videos by avoiding monotony and adding subtle touches of humor.

Our approach

We used various editing techniques to make information-heavy talking-head videos more engaging, including custom infographics like tables, pie charts, and maps. This was also helpful to turn raw data into clear visuals.

To avoid monotony, we added subtle humour through voice changes, light visual gags, and relevant memes that emphasized key points without distracting from the message.

We highlighted key points with titles and on-screen text, while selecting music based on the overall mood of each video, ensuring that the soundtrack supported the content, whether energetic, serious, or lighthearted.

The focus throughout was on balance. Using effects only to support the message on screen. This allowed Make That Change to present complex information clearly while keeping viewers engaged. Less is more.

Why Immigrants STILL Move to Canada?

This project perfectly embodies what we want people to think of when they hear about the Make That Change channel; it’s our bread and butter.

When watching this video, you’ll notice the same visual techniques outlined in our approach. The introduction moves quickly, packed with eye-catching animations, while the main section slows down, making it easier to absorb the dense information with the help of on-screen graphics and b-roll.

City tour around Halifax (Canada)

In this video, Anna and Anastasia explore Halifax through its history, culture, and economy. The vlog format is significantly different from the typical talking-head videos. It provides both challenges and opportunities to creatively integrate the information.

The first thing you will see is how information is integrated into the environment around the characters and how we used their surroundings to integrate statistics or to make a point.

Why Trump Wants Canada to Become the 51st State?

This focused heavily on geopolitics and geography. Apart from the news articles and onscreen visual effects, the interactive map played a crucial role in visualizing a rather complicated topic. The approach was specifically helpful to viewers with limited geography knowledge, so that they could easily follow along.

The video reached 100,000 views within its first week of publication, outperforming the channel’s average performance by a factor of 8.2, according to VidIQ. Since the content was highly information-dense and centred around geopolitical topics, much of the video relied on animated maps.

Always Do This Before Filing Your Taxes!

The goal was to create a concise mini-guide that would help viewers navigate the tax season with confidence. And given the nature of the topic of taxes, it can easily become overwhelming due to the high volume of technical information, deadlines, or small details.

The goal was to support the guide rather than run a parallel narrative that could distract the viewer. Infographics, charts, and custom visuals formed the backbone of the main content, while a lighthearted introduction set an easy tone and hooked the audience from the start.

How Canada Lost its Trillion-Dollar Advantage

This video examines the serious issue of how Canada missed its chance to establish a National Emergency Fund similar to Norway’s, and what steps could still be taken to recover that lost opportunity. The video is full of articles and mathematical estimations, especially when discussing the opportunity cost.

At the same time, Anna and Anastasia wanted to keep it human rather than turning it into another dry documentary or lecture. That’s why the video weaves in humour, playful animations, and popular memes — all integrated into the context to support the narrative.

Did we Make That Change?

This collaboration has grown into a long-term partnership, where Lumuv continues to support the channel in maintaining and developing its video blog. But, here is what Anna and Anastasia say:

Lumuv genuinely care about producing high quality content everybody can be proud of. Collaborating with these guys is easy - they’re proactive and go above and beyond in taking our vision and turning it into solid work.
